For real, though

I found this on Reddit courtesy of BabyMcHaggis and just kind of wanted to elaborate on it.

So many days go by and all we do is complain. Complain about the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the car we drive (or don’t drive), the weather, the politicians in office, the politicians running for office, the cost of gas, the cost of groceries, the cost of EVERYTHING. We are stuck in this pattern that nothing is as good as it should be, or as cheap as it should be. But let’s think about this, shall we?

Everything we use, from the sheets we lay on at night, to the cotton swabs you use to clean your ears out, and even the Tassimo machine you use to make your coffee in the morning… They all use the same crude ingredient in production that we have limited access to… OIL.

The cost of oil fluctuates constantly, but the fact remains.. we only have so much crude oil on our planet. And eventually it’s going to run out. So if you think things are expensive now just wait.

Oil makes up everything, unless you’re creating completely vegan products, and who wants to go through that hassle? The fact that oil is in everything we touch means that eventually we are going to run out of the ability to manufacture the material items we all hold so near and dear to our hearts. Like our fancy shmancy cell phones and our sensual hair dyes. Our ruby red lipsticks and our favourite guitar pics. One day we either won’t be able to make these things anymore, or we will have to find an alternative.

And what’s the alternative to Oil? Plenty of things, but that’s a different blog post. My point here is… Instead of nit-picking at everything everyday, enjoy what you have, and strive to make it better not just for yourself, but those around you as well. You never know how beautifully it could pay off. 👍
